AgriTourism: Adding Value to Rural Economies & Lifestyles

Agri-Tourism is not a new concept, but it is growing in popularity among small to mid sized farms and ranches looking to educate their local consumers or to additional revenue streams to their operations.

The diversity of agriculture presents independent producers with opportunities to provide the public with unique experiences such as learning how milk is processed into their favorite ice cream or grapes are turned into wine to more hands on opportunities such as picking fruits and vegetables or even learning how to ride and rope from a horse.

From recreational activities such as corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and hay rides, to farmer’s markets and tasting rooms, or week-end round-ups camp-outs and photo tours there are more than just a few options offered, seasonally or year round, to consumers and outdoor enthusiasts by our nation’s very independent and creative agricultural producers.

Each issue of The AgriVenturist will feature the unique educational and recreational opportunities currently offered in New Mexico, Texas and beyond.
